A full audit of keyword gaps, on-page issues and quick wins — prioritised exactly like a client would expect. The café existed online; it just never showed up where people were searching.

The brief

A lovely café, invisible online

The café had a beautifully designed website — and almost no one ever saw it. The menu, opening hours and "order online" pages existed, but the business was parked on page four for the queries that actually drive a café's sales.

The website and the search engine were speaking different languages. My job was to make them agree.

The goal

Own the local results

Get to top-3 organic results and a strong map-pack presence for the ~20 keywords that matter: "café near me", "best flat white [area]", "[area] brunch", plus menu- and order-intent queries.

No ad spend. Just relevance, authority and technical health that compound month after month.

Process

How I worked it

  • Audit & crawl

Crawled the site for indexation, speed, mobile and content health — separating plumbing problems from content problems.

  • Keyword & intent map

Listed every query a neighbourhood café should win, bucketed by intent and scored by value versus effort.

  • On-page fixes

Titles, headings, meta and internal links rewritten so each page obviously answers one search intent.

  • Local pack plays

Google Business Profile, consistent citations and location pages — the fundamentals most small businesses skip.

  • Measure & iterate

Tracked impressions and clicks weekly, doubled down on what moved, dropped what didn't.
